Whitney started sewing as a young teen with her mom's fabric scraps. In 2009 she began teaching sewing through project based tutorials on youTube. In 2013 she was introduced to cosplay when her husband asked her to make him a costume. Since then Whitney has made numerous cosplays for herself and her family. Her cosplays have won Best in Show at SoonerCon and several other awards.

Let's face it, cosplay is an expensive hobby and not very sustainable. Whitney Sews has spent the past year focusing on finding ways to make cosplay more sustainable (and budget friendly!). This includes things like reusing parts of costumes for other characters, reworking thrifted clothing for thrift flip costumes, and thrifting curtains and tablecloths to serve as materials for completely handmade cosplays.
