Artist Guest of Honor
Chaz Kemp
Bram Stoker Award finalist Chaz Kemp embraces a dynamic watercolor style that incorporates vibrancy and color into fantasy, Steampunk, and Cyberpunk art in a way that is rarely seen. Chaz is a freelance illustrator and the Art Director for Mobius Worlds Publishing. His award-winning work combines the artistic energy of the Roaring 20s with the untamed diversity of the modern era, influenced by Czech Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha.
Chaz Kemp is a featured artist in Steampunk legend Paul Roland’s 2014 book Steampunk: Back to the Future with the New Victorians. Amazing Stories magazine featured him in the November 2014 issue, and his work has been seen in publications such as DreamForge Magazine, Steampunk Magazine, Savage Insider ezine, and Aurealis. Over the years Chaz has created art for game publishers, sci-fi/fantasy conventions, and several book covers including the anthology Cthulhu Passant (Travis Heerman, ed.) and The Oilman’s Daughter from Local Hero Press. In 2012, he illustrated his first graphic novel, Behind These Eyes, written by Guy Anthony De Marco and Peter J. Wacks. It became a Bram Stoker Award finalist.
Chaz’s latest pieces are the work that he and his wife, award-winning author Carolyn Kay, created for the World of Ashelon. These include the covers and interior art for all three novels. He recently finished a three-year project: the Ashelon Oracle Deck, a 52-card divination and gaming deck featuring characters that appear in the World of Ashelon and the Ashelon RPG Character Creation Guide.
